Privacy Policy
Last updated: October 20, 2026
WorkCamera is a camera app for taking work photos and keeping them in a library that is separate from your phone's photo gallery. This policy covers the iPhone and Android apps.
What we collect
WorkCamera has no accounts, no advertising and no servers of its own. Your photos, locations, addresses, notes, job names and reference numbers never leave your phone unless you share them yourself.
To find bugs and improve the app, WorkCamera sends two kinds of technical data that never include your name or contact details, and you can turn both off in Settings:
- Usage analytics, through PostHog: which screens and features are used (for example "photo taken" or "job created"), the app version, the iOS or Android version and the device model. Events are grouped under a random identifier that the app creates when it's installed. It isn't your name, email, phone number or advertising identifier. IP addresses are not used to look up location.
- Crash and error reports, through Sentry: when the app crashes or hits an error, a report with the error details, the app and operating system versions, the device model and the steps leading up to it inside the app. Reports never include screenshots or the contents of your photos.
We use this data only to fix problems and decide what to improve. We do not sell it, use it for advertising, or combine it with data from other companies, and it is not used to track you across apps or websites. PostHog and Sentry process it on our behalf and keep it for a limited time (30 days for crash reports and 1 year for analytics).
Turning it off
Open WorkCamera's Settings and switch off Share Analytics and Crash Reports. From then on, nothing is sent.
What stays on your phone
- Photos you take in WorkCamera, plus the notes, job names and reference numbers you add, are stored only inside the app on your device. They are not added to your Photos library or Android gallery.
- Location. When you allow it, WorkCamera reads your location while you take a photo so it can stamp the photo with where it was taken. The coordinates are saved with that photo on your device. To turn coordinates into a street address, the app uses the phone's built-in geocoding service (Apple's on iPhone, Google's on Android), which Apple or Google handles under its own privacy policy.
- Settings you choose are saved on your device.
- Backups. On iPhone, if you back up to iCloud or a computer, that backup includes WorkCamera's photos and data, like any app's, and stays under your own account. On Android, Google's cloud backup leaves WorkCamera's photos out (only your settings are backed up), but they move with your data when you transfer it to a new phone.
Sharing
Photos leave your phone only when you share them yourself, using your phone's share sheet (for example by message or email). What happens after that is governed by the app or person you share with.
Deleting your data
Delete photos inside the app at any time, or turn on auto-delete in Settings; a job is removed once auto-delete has cleared all of its photos. Deleting WorkCamera removes all of its photos and data from your phone. We don't keep a copy, so they can't be recovered afterwards unless you restore your iPhone from a backup made before you deleted them. To ask for any analytics or crash data tied to your app's random identifier to be deleted, contact us below.
Children
WorkCamera is not directed at children and does not knowingly collect data from children.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version will be posted at this address with a new date.
